About MNT4P

The Medical Nutrition Therapy for Prevention (MNT4P) Program was established in 2016 by the Singh Research Group in the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University. We address critical gaps in research, workforce training, and patient care in genetic metabolic nutrition through an integrated approach that serves both patients and professionals in the inherited metabolic disorders community.

Our Mission

To address critical gaps in research, workforce training, and patient care in the field of genetic metabolic nutrition by creating a robust infrastructure that fosters innovation in metabolic genetic nutrition.

Our Vision

To serve as a national model for metabolic genetics nutrition, driving advancements in rare disease management through our three core pillars: research, education, and clinical community services.

Our Origin Story

MNT4P evolved from 2009 research conducted by Emory’s Department of Human Genetics and Public Health Informatics Institute, which mapped newborn dried bloodspot screening activities and identified critical gaps in follow-up care for inherited metabolic disorders. Working from these findings, the Department of Human Genetics established MNT4P in 2016 to provide essential services and support for patients with inherited metabolic disorders. All while advancing the science that informs their care.

Leading a Federal, Multi-State Consortium

MNT4P heads the Southeast Integrative Newborn Screening-Long-Term Follow-Up (INBS-LTFU) Consortium – the only nationally funded, multi-state collaboration of its kind. This HRSA-funded consortium brings together public health agencies and newborn screening experts across Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi to improve timeliness of screening and reduce inequities in follow-up care.
